Close but no cigar

We're getting close to Santiago now...11.5kms completed today.

Today the path followed beside a minor road for the most part. When it deviated away, we walked rough, tree lined tunnels which I imagined had been that way for hundreds of years. It was misty till lunchtime, which made for good walking, it was not hot or cold.
After lunch when the sun came out I actually felt weird and faint. Matt says it's because we didn't have lunch till after we arrived about 1pm, he could be right.
16th Century stone cross along today's route

By the end of today we only have 70km to go.

Coming into Palas de Rey a large green and brown lizard crossed our path. Lots of cuckoo's, robins, and sparrows making nests in the stone walls of houses.
Fields of mustard

In the guidebook we have, these kms are divided into 2 stages. One of 28.5km and the other of 40km! Neither of those I am capable of doing in one stint. So tomorrow we aim for Melide which is about 15km away - with a side tour to see Pambre where there is a big castle.

Interesting conversation today with a Dutch woman who has cycled all the way from her home in Holland!
