Stalled, Matt's Feet

Matt took one for the team and lay out to measure El Cid's casket, we've decided he must have been curled up in this, otherwise he would have been about 4ft tall!
Ages to Burgos should have been fine. It was not raining, though it was cold. But Matt complained of sore feet. After 2km or so we came to a large building complex with signs in Spanish about archaeology, and pictures of early man. Our curiosity was aroused and we paused to Google what it was. We tried ringing the number on the website, but no answer so we walked up to a cafe in the village and asked. CLOSED on Mondays! What? Dang. Again Mondayitis struck. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/989 it's a Unesco World Heritage site

Matt sat gingerly down and we scoffed a hot drink. He told me he wasn't sure if he could go on. In the end we taxed into Burgos to a hotel.

He needed a podiatrist pronto. The afternoon was spent finding one that spoke English and was willing to see him. They said they were making him new insoles and to come back the next day. No walking, just resting with his feet up.

So today marks the 3rd day on forced rest, and we have also tomorrow. He is not sure if he will carry on, so we have had discussions with the travel insurance company too.

This leaves me in a quandary. I don't fancy walking another 500km on my own.

For now no decision has been made and we are in limbo.

Yesterday he limped around Burgos Cathedral which is only 100m from our hotel. It's a huge complex of chapels and cloister, very impressive and over-the-top. They have El Cid's casket there, it was very short, i guess he was in a tucked up position inside when they transported him.

Photos soon.
